Fall is personally my very favorite time of the year. I love the smell of bonfires on a crisp cold evening. I love the smell of morning, fresh, clean and cold. I love the colors of the fall, the crimson red, the energetic orange, the warmth of yellow. One of my favorite childhood books was Frederick by Leo Leonni. As all the other mice collected nuts and necessities for winter, Fredrick would sit on the wall and collect the colors and warmth of the summer to hold during those long winter nights to come. It’s a normal thing for people to add layers in winter to protect from the cold. We can combat that without sacrificing flavor. Here are some of my favorite ways to enjoy the fall flavors without adding the calories.

Start your day with the warmth of coffee and cream with the addition of protein: Yep, add vanilla protein powder to your coffer instead of powdered coffee creamer, sprinkle on some pumpkin pie spice and a small bit of coconut oil and you have an incredibly cheap, immensely wonderful breath of fall first thing in the morning.
