People ask me all the time
“What can I do to get rid of my stomach?”
“How can I get a flat stomach?”
“What’s the best ab exercise?”
“What’s one thing I can do to feel better?”
Are you starting to detect a pattern here? We all want to “feel” thin, have a flat stomach, maybe a few abs wouldn’t be so bad. And just like with so many things we have come to believe there should be quick and easy fix. We think a few of these and a little of that and vwala, we have a flat stomach.
Now, in our heads, we know that can’t possibly happen, but we hold onto that hope like, one day the answer will change. So try shakes, try wraps, try prepared, boxed meals, etc. We know that we didn’t get into the shape we are in over night and it can’t be fixed overnight. We, cognitively, know that it will take time and effort. It takes a lot of time to be “ready”. To do what it takes.
Notice how everything you try works for about 3 months? Wraps, pills, boxed meals, shakes. Everything works at the beginning. What happen is that our body catches up to what we are doing, or we simply can't sustain the program. Sustainability is the only way to a successful lifestyle changes. Think about it. Do you want to drink shakes and eat boxed meals the rest of your life? Neither does your body. This lifestyle leads to metabolic syndrome.
The one thing you can do today and everyday to flatten your stomach and lead a healthy lifestyle is...to journal your food intake. I know, you were hoping for some new fangled drink that would magically do the work for you. There is a saying, “You can’t fix what you don’t know.” The only way to really take control of your body and your health, is to know what you are putting into it and what work you are getting out of your body.
Just like with all types of businesses, we have tools to help manage our work life. Not all of the tools are fabulous, but they are better than nothing. In the world of health and fitness, we use LOTS of tools to help us stay on course. They are just a way to guide we use to help you make nutrition choices that work for you. Some of the journaling tools available are: myfitnesspal, lose it, fitbit and other wearable technologies, well you get the idea. They are a way for us to find the missing pieces to our lifestyle changes. If you would like to know more about these available tools or want to get started building your plan, give me a call.
We can get started when you are ready.
